Nomination Description:
Our school garden was created by the children and families of our center to reconnect our children with nature and to promote healthy eating. This will be our third year having a school garden and it grows bigger each year. Our families and staff have come together to help create our gardens. This was our second year having a family gardening night where the children and their families came out and planted and created new gardening areas that our children help to care for all year long through out their days at school. Our families have worked so hard to help us jump start our gardening adventures and without them I don't think we would be where we are today. Our children take such pride in the things that they grow and enjoy helping to prepare them for eating. We try to use all that we grow into our daily meals for our children and staff to enjoy. Through out our outside areas we have created an herb garden, a vegetable patch, a cutting garden, and sunflowers that line our bike path.
